If you’ve watched the White Lotus, I can guess what’s on your mind. And no, I didn’t stay in the Pineapple Suite, which is purely fictional like the show’s title. However, the hotel where the series filming takes place is authentic and filled with surprises.
The mesmerizing tale of the White Lotus has captivated viewers, including myself. The cast, storyline, and plot are intriguing, and the hotel where the entire story unfolds is a character.
The oceanfront location of season one of the White Lotus is the home of Four Seasons Maui, a five-star luxury resort on Wailea Beach. The resort boasts 383 guest rooms and three exceptional restaurants, making it a remarkable vacation destination.
First Impressions
I went to the Four Seasons Maui with my husband for my 40th birthday. Although I had been to Maui before, I had never had the chance to stay at this renowned resort and was curious to experience it.
However, I wasn’t immediately impressed when we arrived at the Four Seasons Maui. While the lobby was lovely with its open-air layout, marble floors, and soaring ceilings, I didn’t feel the awe I had expected. I had set my expectations high.
I even began to experience some buyer’s remorse, wondering if we should have chosen the Grand Wailea next door instead, which was significantly cheaper and still boasted the same beach. Despite my initial doubt, however, I tried to keep an open mind. We put on our bathing suits and headed down to the pool.
Cabana Living
We checked in with a pool attendant and were seated in a covered cabana. The Four Seasons Maui offers cabanas at no extra cost, while most hotels charge over $1000. The cabana offered perfect shade and plush beach chairs. A server came by every fifteen minutes to check if we needed anything.
But the most extraordinary aspect of this pool experience was the complimentary snacks brought out hourly. The treats included frozen grapes, pineapple, and an ice cream cart. The server which delivers the goodies is exceptionally kind and chats with everyone. I began to feel the magic and allure of the resort.
Sunset Dinner
After lounging by the pool, we got ready for dinner at Ferraro’s, an open-air Italian eatery offering an unobstructed beach view. We were seated at a table at the edge of the restaurant, providing us with a picturesque sunset view over the ocean.
Our first course was the bread with roasted garlic, which was the most delicious bread I had ever tasted. Each subsequent course that followed was equally delectable, making it some of the best food I had ever consumed. The warm and welcoming staff enhanced the entire dining experience.
Food Paradise
The hotel was winning me over. The staff is sincere and kind. My dinner experience at Ferraro’s blew me away. The level of service, ambiance and cuisine was exceptional.
The following morning, we made our way down to Duo for breakfast. In the evenings, Duo transforms into a steakhouse, but it becomes a lavish breakfast buffet in the morning.
The breakfast spread was heavenly. The chefs prepared fresh pancakes and omelets to order, and there was also a refreshing juice bar, fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, and every other delicious breakfast item you could imagine.
While waiting for our table, we strolled through the art exhibit outside the restaurant, where local artists displayed and sold their artwork. It is a delightful and unique way to kickstart the day.
One-of-a-Kind Experience
I fell increasingly in love with the Four Seasons Maui during my trip. Undoubtedly, its best feature is the food, which is prepared impeccably and offers such a vast array of options that there is no need to venture beyond the resort–the perfect vacation, in my opinion.
There are four distinct dining venues available for dinner. The Italian restaurant Ferraro’s was the restaurant we dined at the first night. We were so taken with it that we ate there three more times. The outdoor bar is charming, and they offer exceptional wood-fired pizza.
Wolfgang Puck’s Spago is on the hotel’s top floor, with breathtaking ocean views. Spago is a fine dining establishment with a AAA Four Diamond rating. The cuisine is exceptional, and the scenery is simply dazzling.
Duo restaurant, situated below Spago, serves delectable steaks. Finally, the lobby bar offers sushi and imported Dim Sum from the island of O’ahu on Fridays and Saturdays.
Without a doubt, Four Seasons Maui has become my favorite hotel, and I am already ready to return. The food and the hospitality of the staff make this an unparalleled experience. If you have the opportunity to stay at the White Lotus Maui, do yourself a favor and indulge.
